Itinerary
Day 1 | Arrive in Arctic Norway
Arrive at Engholm Husky Design Lodge in Karasjok. The lodge offers uniquely designed cabins, each built and decorated with handcrafted furnishings by the owner, Sven Engholm. The cabins provide a cosy and authentic Arctic experience. Karasjok is a cultural hub for the Sami people, who are indigenous to the region. Sami culture is prominent in the area, with traditional Sami handicrafts, music, and reindeer herding being important aspects of life. Enjoy dinner on arrival in the evening and relax in your beautiful cabin.
Day 2 | Visit a Sami reindeer herder on the plateau
Embark on an extraordinary journey with a Sami reindeer herder, offered exclusively by a Sami family from Karasjok in Finnmark. You will be collected by the herder on his snowmobile and transported in a sled to the reindeer herd. Spend the day immersed in the daily work of a Sami reindeer herder. This rare opportunity allows you to gain profound insights into the traditional and current practices of Sami reindeer herding. Gather around a campfire in the wilderness. Enjoy a sauna in the evening before dinner.
Day 3 | Dogsledding & Northern Lights by Snowshoe
Embark on an exhilarating dog sledding adventure venturing far off the beaten track into varied and breathtaking terrain. Covering a distance of 27 to 45 km, this tour offers an unforgettable dog sledding experience for both novice and seasoned adventurers. Take the reins and drive your own team of huskies, either with a partner or alongside a knowledgeable guide. Alternatively, sit back and enjoy the ride as a warmly wrapped passenger on the sled. Gather around a campfire for hot drinks and camaraderie, toasting sandwiches or snacks, and soak in the serene beauty of the Arctic wilderness.
Day 4 | Cross Country Ski
Led by a skilled instructor, today's lesson covers the basics of cross-country skiing, preparing you to glide through the snow-covered trails. Traverse picturesque trails surrounded by stunning winter landscapes, making every moment on the skis a delightful adventure. There is the opportunity to meet the hardworking dogs and experience the essence of their environment. Enjoy a tasting session of local delicacies served outdoors around a cosy campfire. Savor homemade juice from fireweed and crowberry, and sample smoked reindeer meat, smoked fish, dried fish, and dried lamb meat.

- Return airport transfers from Ivalo Airport in Finland or Alta Airport in Norway
- Four nights at Engholm Husky Design Lodge in Karasjok based on a unique Design Cabin with double/twin bed and shower and WC. Includes daily buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Visit to a Sami Reindeer Herder on the Plateau including local Sami herder guide, pick-up and drop-off from Engholm's by snowmobile sled and hot drink around a campfire. Duration 4-5 hours
- Dog sledding adventure based on two people per sled (musher and passenger) with the opportunity to swap around mid-way. Driving distance is between 27 & 45 kms, depending upon weather conditions. Hot drinks included around a campfire. Duration 3½ to 4½ hours
- Northern lights snowshoe adventure including local guide, all equipment and a hot drink. Duration 3-4 hours
- Cross-country ski lesson including a local guide at the start of the activity, and time to practice on the trails on your own. Duration 3 hours
- Arctic outer clothing for the duration of your stay including trousers, Arctic leather jacket, mittens, winter boots, woollen socks and windproof cap.
