Tell me more
Hidden on Sweden’s tiny island of Hamneskar, this unique bright red lighthouse is a must for those seeking luxury combined with thrilling adventure.
Once the lighthouse master’s home, Pater Noster dates back to 1868, offering 19th-century charm and panoramic sea views. Nine double bedrooms, a spacious living room, and a kitchen are decorated with bright bespoke artwork and elegant wallpaper. Large windows allow morning sunlight to pour in. There is even an outdoor sleeping area for those wanting to spend a night beneath the stars listening to the waves wash up at the shore.
Reaching this remote destination is simpler than you may think. Pick-up by boat from either Gothenburg or Marstrand can be arranged. Guests are encouraged to explore the island however they choose. From scuba diving, kayaking and sailing, to hiking, meditation, and cooking classes, an interesting mix of water and land-based activities are on offer.
For those wanting to escape further into the surrounding blissful nature, head to one of the lighthouse outbuildings. The gunpowder cabin is a cosy nook for keen readers or sea bird watchers.
