Arctic Retreat

Set in splendid isolation, just south of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland, the cluster of seven log cabins at Arctic Retreat are neatly arranged around a communal fire pit. Go off-grid and enjoy the serene snowy setting and let your hosts share their tranquil world with you.

Three buildings comprise of a sauna, a dining room and a kitchen. The remaining quartet are for sleeping, and all feature a log-burning stove, comfortable seating and warm interiors. Each guest cabin has its own private bathroom, outside deck with a hot tub, and floor-to-ceiling windows – perfect for Northern Lights spotting in aurora season.

Only welcoming a maximum of 12 guests to the resort at any one-time, personal service is high on the agenda here, as is cuisine. Only the very best local ingredients are used. Fish, game, vegetables, berries and mushrooms from the region are prepared and chefs use recipes from the Swedish and Sami cultures to create dishes that are simple, tasty and healthy.

Fish, trek and kayak in summer; dog sled, snowshoe and hunt for the aurora in winter. The atmosphere here is serene. Yoga lessons and in-room treatments such as a traditional Swedish massage can be arranged.
