Basecamp Trolltunga

This basecamp of dome tents, close to the iconic needle of rock that is Trolltunga, provides spectacular views of mountains and fjords. A truly unique overnight stay which we feature as part of a 2-day hike to witness the sunset and sunrise over Trolltunga and the beautiful Sørfjord.

The dome tents (there are three of them) at Basecamp Trolltunga are very simple, with each tent accommodating up to six people. Share a tent with other participants (private tours are possible, please ask for details). Each participant will receive a cotton liner and a sleeping bag for the overnight stay. There is a drop-toilet available outside the dome tents, however there are no shower facilities or electricity - this is a very remote location! Dinner and breakfast are served inside one of the dome tents and are simple but hearty. Special diets can be catered for as long as we know in advance.

It is important to know that each participant will be responsible for carrying their own provisions, so it is essential that you bring a backpack with a minimum of 40 litres capacity.

You will need to bring:

• Food for two lunches (packed lunches from the hotel included in your holiday package), snacks such as nuts, chocolate etc
• Two litres of water
• Hiking shoes
• Wind and waterproof shell jacket and a mid-layer
• Warm clothes for when you are sitting still in the evening
• Spare socks
• Cap or hat
• Sunglasses
• Sunscreen
• A headlamp

If low temperatures are forecast:

• Wind/waterproof shell pants
• A warm mid-layer
• Woollen base-layer
• Beanie or headband and gloves are also recommended
